View Full Version : Intel retail HSF question
Does Intels retail HS fan blows on the HS or sucks the air out away from it?
Thanx
I'm pretty sure it sucks.
Damn sucker, so my blowing fans on the side of the case are actually not helping, should i, and is it possible to reverse the fan to blow on the heatsink?

Yah. It actually isnt that bad, once you replace the fan. The stock FAN blows onto the heatsink. I replaced it with a Delta Screamer though :).
Thanx for the help silver and Antman, i was affraid that i'll have to think of the new airflow scheme in my new system.
And one more thing, Antman, could you refer me to some sites where can i check how to replace the stock fan and fit it on the retail HS, and what fans to use. Thx!

It's fairly easy to replace the fan on the stock HSF. You can try just screwing down the fan onto the hs, but make sure u've got room for the 2 press down tabs. I replaced mine with a 60mm xeon fan and placed 2 pieces of wood (same height as the plastic bits) on the 2 ends. Hope this helps :)
Thanx. I have two fans @ home that i'll try to use-one is delta from the globalwin-FOP and one is 80mm Sunon.
