I recently built a new system, which should be blowing the doors off of my old setup, but it is not. My new system:

Duron 600@900
Abit KT7-Raid - two 40 gig WD drives Striped
CL 3DB Annihilator 2 (Geforce 2 GTS)

My old system:
Emachines Emonster - PIII 550
CL Annihilator Pro

My new system has a much faster processor, and indeed this shows when I use Sharon's benchmarks, but when I run 3DMark 2000, my new box gets around 2600, while my old EMachine turns about 3500. They both have the detonator 3 drivers installed, and DX8. Can anyone think of what my problem might be? Any help would be appreciated.

Similar questions seem to garner a similar response. Check your Bios sitch, carefully. Do the same with your Via chipset drivers. Might help considerably.

did you install the VIA 4-1 drivers? it makes a world of difference you should score 5000+ on 3dmark

Yeah, sounds like the 4 in1 - I got about 2000 with my KT7 before installing them (GF2MX DDR) and 4500 afterwards :-) Just be sure to install the VIA gart driver (or whichever one it is) in turbo mode, should give an extra boost.

Worked like a charm, it's up to 6420 now, only ~4200 in "Athlon" mode, whatever the heck that is. Thanks for the advice...
