Having problems sending Outlook mail. I get the error:
"The message could not be opened from out Outbox folder. Account: 'mail.alltel.net', Server: 'mail.alltel.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800420C8"
What does this mean? And does it mean my mail wasn't sent?
Thanks,
Mike

It means the mail is stuck in your Outbox and can't be sent. Depending on your version of Outlook you will need to search for the option to 'Send messages immediately', there will prpbably be a check box, if there is no check mark in it, put it in, if it has one uncheck it, then recheck and hit apply...

Oh no,
I already had the option Send Immediately" enabled.
I've been getting this for the past couple days.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

Have you called your ISP to see if their SMTP server is ok?
I used to be with a local ISP here and although they weren't very big, they ALWAYS let you know what was going on. They had the best customer service i've ever seen from an ISP.
They would update their web pages regularly and you could always go back through the archives to see when a particualr server was down or when a problem occured.
Now, since I switched to Cable (I used to have DSL), the ISP has some of the crappiest service i've ever had to deal with.
God I want my DSL back.

I thought about calling my ISP, Alltel.
We've only had DSL here about 7 months and they are still expanding and working on the system. Just 3 weeks ago they opened a new DSL hub/remote about 1000 ft from my home. Geez I had problems for the next 2 weeks getting it to work right, and they had problems with their remote also. Guess I better call.
My DSL comes in at 1258/219 which I understand is pretty good.
I originally hooked at 500/219, way over the normal/usual connect distances. I was at about 24,000 ft.
I got my mom connected to her local cable and she is absolutely smoking! This is envious! 2000/360
And my brother isn't bad at 1630/128 in LV, Nevada, on cable.
But he has broken connections at times.
On a side note, another question.
In my NewsGroups, I can't keep my Watched threads, or any threads from disappearing after about 2 days. My threads used to stay listed until I deleted them.(My Watched threads anyways.) What do I do to keep my threads/posts from being deleted so quickly, if at all?
I'm not up to snuff on this DSL and especially Outlook. I always use Yahoo, and have been on Yahoo since the early 90s.
Thanks,
Mike

I am sure you have it enabled, what you need to do is remove the check mark, then put it back in, then click apply.

Awl, I tried it and it didn't work.
I may try calling my ISP later on when I have time.
Cheers,
Mike

What you do is go to www.microsoft.com/technet and in the search parameter enter in the error number, in this case 0x800420C8 and it will tell you whats wrong.
