Got a quick question. Anyone have overheating problems with the 2200+ with the retail HSF? System is at default speed, MB is an MSI KT4V. The memory checks out in Memtest V3.0. This is a brand new computer and it's been bugging me since I left work. If the heatsink was any hotter, I wouldn't be able to touch it. Even though I'm not an AMD guy, but I know this isn't normal. System shuts down after getting to the third or fourth pass of memtest. Client didn't order windows with the system so this is happening while running memtest.

No, the heatsink is on correctly. I made sure before I put it on, because it's that weird one with the screwed in plate on it. Not to mention if it wasn't on correctly, the HSF probably wouldn't have gotten as hot as it was/ is. I'll double check the Vcore when I get into work tomorrow. But like I said, I'm not really an AMD guy, so any thoughts are welcome. please bear in mind that it's entirely possible that the CPU is defective from the start, but I'm just trying to rule out everything else before I RMA the CPU. I just really hate recieving defective stock (one of my pet peeves).

Well keep in mind that the Tbred A runs much hotter than a Palomino. I wouldn't be suprised if the retail HSF can't handle it. BTW, what are the temps?
