I got some "artic gray" from a local comp shop the other day...err...other month. But, today was the first day I actually removed my HSF after applying that crap, and it was all eroded away...it looked like rivers of air under my proc. Is it becuase this crap is so thick (about 2x as thick as zinc oxide grease from radio shack)? Should I use more? Or should I drive down to the other computer shop that carrys AS2/3/alu (about 45 mins away tho) and get some of that?? Is it something else causing the air pockets?

Thanx, KLowD9x

if you contact arctic silver and tell them you bought this arctic gray crap they might send you a free arctic silver if you send them this fake crap.

or just buy arctic silver 3 or shin etsu

I will only use ASIII
As for your air pockets, it sounds like the paste isn't rated for the temps you are getting. Go get the ASIII

Really? All I do is tell them I bought some bunk grase, and theyll send me a tube of AS? That sounds ko0.... This stuff was 5 bucks for like a gram of it...and it looks like axle grease...gray...think...and doesnt wash off of anything...even metal. The bottom of my HSF looks like it was made out of some overheated metal.

Umm... My guess is you used way too damn much, and a bunch got squished out by the heatsink. THis isn't supposed to be another layer between your core and heatsink. It's supposed to fill inperfections in the core and heatsink's surfaces.

Sounds like you need to learn how to apply paste before making comments about it being for "nUbs".If it is for "nUbs", then what do you suggest?

Oh yeah and this does't sound like an as rip off, it even has a differant name. That is like sueing safeway for making cereals that are similar to cheerios.

Yeah they could be trying to confuse n00bs that don't know the differance into buying it.

Seems the most likely answer...

I've had good luck with Phase Change Material. It is just a little square of sticky stuff and it doesn't run out or dissappear. Recommended by AMD. Check it out at this link:

Sounds like this stuff I saw in the shop once. Don't know who they got it from, but it was a free sample. It was grey, no reflection of any sort and was thick.... I don't think we ever used it...

Its better than white paste. And its not called artic gray, thats just what I called it becuase it looks like a rip of artic silver.

This stuff is thick also, I found a place that sells ASII, but theyre in down town charlotte, about 45 minute drive from here. Ill deal with what I got untill I build my Athlon rig.
