View Full Version : do tbirds runn hotter then tbreds?
I currently have a 1.4Ghz thunderbird. I had major cooling probswith it til i got my volcano 9. do the thuroubreds run any cooler or am i going to run into more heat problems?i just ordered an xp1800
i'm about fanned out in my case (10fans) so i'm praying it runs cooler as i don't have much more room or money.

The 1.4 Thunderbirds are known to run "RED Hot". Speaking from experience.
The xp generation of the Athlon chips do tend to run cooler than the Thunderbirds, I've not had experience with a T Bred but if it is simalar to the panaminos it should run cooler.
Good airflow in a case is more important than the amount of fans. Have you checked that you have airflowing in one direction threw the case. Make sure that you do not have fans fighting each other.
I have only x3 case fans in my system. I have a 1.4@1.6 170fsb 1.9vcore. I get load temps of 46c.
My Tbred A 1800 runs much cooler than my older 1800, although I am using a SLK-800 instead of my old AX-7. They do run cooler.
