I'm trying to decide between these two mobos. The Albatron is the one with the 845pe chipset forgot the exact name. I know people here think highly of the p4pe but do you think it is worth the extra money as it is more expensive than the albatron for which I just read a review from overclockers.com that said that it was a great ocing board. Also, what is the average price of the p4pe with raid?

Good question. I was going back and forth.

I decided on the P4PE for two reasons; name (Asus) and options. If I were paying attention to cost, I would have bought the Albatron.

I just got the P4PE on Friday and have it up and running. I was gonna get the Albatron II (with the silver board) as a backup, but when I was at the computer store I forgot. My brain was fried thinking about that P4 3.06 that was in my hands. :)
The P4PE is really easy to install and I've had no problems so far. I bought the MEGA optioned board. Now I only have one card in my PC - the Radeon 9700pro. Network & sound are on-board and I moved SCSI to another PC.

Sorry I can't be much help, but I'll be interested in other comments.

Hi...

I haven't looked at the P4PE with the oscilloscope yet so I can;t tell you much about it. The Albatron though is the model of excellence in PE boards. As I said in my review I was able to run this board at 3116mhz with aggressie memory timings all day long with no problems at all. I'm really impressed with Albatron and feel that they are a much better deal than Asus products.

Well I went to a computer fair yesterday and came back with an asus P4PE among other things. The choice was simple since the Albatron board was nowhere to be found so I had to go with the asus. I decided to buy the processor and mobo there(yes I'm somewhat of a compulsive buyer plus the fact that I've been waiting on a new setup for so long.) The only problem now is NO POST! I don't know if it's my processor or mobo but when I turn it on screen is blank, no beeps. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit-I'll just start a new thread in General Hardware for my problems so reply there.

If you know enough to be able to handle the minor issues that the Albatron has, and might get, and you don't have much money I can't think of a better board for you.
It comes in three varieties too so you can pretty much get any extra on-bard stuff you like with this.
The Albatros do have some issues but they are stable and can get just a high OCs as the Asus or almost for a lot less money.
