Ram types ??

what is the difference between the ram types ?

some ram is 32Mx8 and other is 16x16 ?

it tells you how much ram you have...so 16x16/8 is 32 so that module would be 32MB

here are some examples...the ones with the extra x2 would be double sided.

1x64 = 8MB
1x64x2 = 16MB
2x64 = 16MB
2x64x2 = 32MB
4x64 = 32MB
4x64x2 = 64MB
8x64 = 64MB
8x64x2 = 128MB
16x64 = 128MB

From looking at the guide quickly, i would guess 16x64 = 128MB, but i don't know for def. Just an educated guess ;)

you can get things like 16x72 which is 128 with parity on it...alright so thats like 1-3% slower...but literally if there are two that give you the same ram count I dont know whether one would overclock better cos I think it refers to the physical layout of the chips...

I just looked at another post and apparently you want the memory to be more spread out...so your 32x8 and 16x16 are both 32MB...but the 16x16 would be better as its less grouped together so it produces less heat.

I should imagine also it causes less interference...I dont know what the M in it refers to though
