Hey there guys,

I was wondering if anyone was having this same problem. Whenever I try to load up some new drivers, windows always tels me that "This program has not passed the XP signed...blha blah blah... continue anyway or STOP Installation!" Of course when I hit stop, it installs anyway...

Essentially, Windows thinks that I'm installing something that's not exactly compatible with it and is warning me. Then when I install it anyway and restart, it says that it has recovered from a serious error caused by a driver. So all I can do is use the updated drivers from Microsoft, which suck like hell!!!

Can anyone help?

What drivers are you loading? The version 40 Detonator drivers work fine and are WQOL by MSFT so they should work just fine.

Here is a link to nVidias driver site. not sure if you've been here yet or not.
nVidia Detonator for XP (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp)

that makes no difference Vtech.
first of all, if a driver is WQOL then that screen doesnt even come up. All that screen does is tell you that the drivers havnt been certified, and ask you if you want to continue.

Amino: did you un-install your old drivers first?

I didn't have any nVidia drivers loaded. This was after a fresh windows install. I just had the default drivers that windows sets up automatically on...

what drivers/where did you download them?

40.72 (XP/2000) from Guru3D.com. It happens with the new 41.09 drivers from the nVidia page too.

Was it maybe because I hadn't updated windows? Loaded them without SP1?

sorry... not the 40.72's. they were 40.71

Hey JAmes, I realize that screen won't show up if the drivers are signed off, but he stated he was getting that screen so I figured he needed newer approved drivers for nVidia no? Then again maybe I missed the threads point and posted something unnecessary. :D

I do not recommend installing the SP1 but that is from my own experiances.

no no. I did NOT have SP1 when I installed them and it gave me the error.

BTW, you should probably consider installing it. There are a lot of great features like an easy removal of Windows Messenger, and a bunch of security fixes that actually are effective.

But nevertheless, should I try D/Ling some other drivers? I just got the 40.72 WHQL's. What's the difference between WQOL and WHQL?

Nothing I typed it wrong.
Also I DO have SP1 and it has created nothing but nightmares for my system and is being removed this morning when I get home since I'll have the time today to reinstall XP.

Ok, well I just installed the 40.72 WHQL's and they worked like a charm.

Thanks for the help guys!
