View Full Version : Water Wetter/Purple Ice with UV Dye?
I'm looking at this page (http://dtekcustoms.safeshopper.com/9/cat9.htm?613).
First, would you recommend the red Water Wetter, the Purple Ice, or the uri|\|3 looking SuperCool?
And, can any of these be used with their Clear/Blue UV Dye? And I know that the dyes can stain but will it stain the tubes? Thanks

usge tygon tubing... nothing can stain it... I tried with mine... my tube is still clear (just bleed my system yesterday, making room for my WhiteWater) However, I did not use water wetter or purple ice. I use super protector from vavoline
Well I already have 8ft. of Clearflex60 1/2" tubing on the way so I can't really change that. Does super protector from vavoline turn the water any color and can it be used along with dyes?

I would recommend purple ice, It turns clear after a while, then it would be great! and tygon is just fine!

Oh I didn't know it turns clear. Then in that case I will run the system until it clears(if I can wait that long) then add the UV dye in. How does that sound?

I know that, but I already have 8 feet of ClearFLEX60 1/2" tubing on the way.

my vavoline super protector has blue color, and also my UV dye is deep blue. They would mix fine :D and I use tygon tube.

I had my setup doing a test run with clearflex tubing. I used tap water, uv dye and water wetter. After about 3 wks of running all seemed fine. When I took it apart there was a cloudy haze on the walls of all my tubing and my res. I suspect it was from the tap water but not 100% sure. Anyway I put my pump in a bucket and mixed a bit of humidifier cleaner in the water. After less than an hour of circulating everything was clean as new. The cleaner contains a mild acid solution so I wouldnt run it in the system, only use it for clean up purposes and then rinse really well.

As far as I know it turns clear away, it actually turns your water white or somethign for a few hrs then it turns clear, I havent used it but mario who floats around here has

I've used Purple Ice with both Case-Mod green and blue dye. It works fine.
Yes, the Purple Ice makes your water look like a soft white (almost looks kinda like ice-cream) and then it clears up after a few hours. I then put the UV dye in.
UnLoadeD, it's not the tap water. When I changed my water in my system, it also had a slight slight haze on the tubing. Not enough to make a difference for me though. :)
Does the haze on the tubing affect the UV dye at all? Or not enough to notice or care about it?

I have not notice any lack of brightness from the dye... after switching the water out, and putting dye back in, it looks like the first day I put dye in.
OK thanks for the help everyone. I'll buy the purple ice.
