so i got a question here... i have a HD on master and a dvd-rom on master on the same ide cable, and then i have a cd-rw and a HD bay on the second ide cable. i now realize that i should switch my dvd- rom to slave but i was wondering, what should i set my HD bay to? for instance i might want to sometimes to boot up with a different OS from the other HD so i was wondering if there woudl be any way to do this other then having to open my case unplugging my primary HD and switching to this other one? like is there any way in bios or using a hot key at boot up where i would beable to switch? i woudl like to have the option of booting from either one of the HD. and i dont need the other to be accessable while im using the first one or vise versa.

In the bios you can select which device you want to boot from first. Usually you can select from IDE 0, 1, 2, or 3, and many others.

I am unfamiliar with that type of bios. It is not standard. It could be that those numbers mean the boot order, but I don't know. Usually, you find the boot order in the bios under "Features", and you set the order of the devices that you want. For example, 1st - floppy, 2nd - IDE 0, 3rd - CDROM....etc.

Try to find your manual, that may help.

ok.. i found my manual... looked through it.. nothing really that would help... but i did find out why my drives wernt being recognized at boot up though:D

but i would still like to figure out how to do this.. would make my life sooo much easier. so if anyone knows how or has experience with this bios, i woudl appriciate the help. and thanks flounder for your input. there is somethign that i will though try with my bios.
