View Full Version : TV output on my Ti4200 isn't working

I'm using the 40.72 drivers. The TV output has worked before but isn't now. I can tell that I'm not getting a video signal. I've tried setting the TV as primary display or clone but it doesn't work.

I run the signal through an RF modulator. It only turns on if there's a signal, and it promptly shuts itself off when I enable the TV output.

Is there any way to fix this other than RMA'ing the video card?

(it's not overclocked and I haven't modded it in any way.)

There are known detection issues with the nvidia (conexant I think) tv outs. In the past I had to shut down the PC, disconnect the vid out, boot into windows. Then I'd shut down again, reconnect the video out, and boot again for the card to detect the television. It certainly isn't reliable which is one reason I stopped using mine.

When I click "Detect displays" it lists "TV M/NTSC" as an option. I haven't had any problems with it before now.

Still, I'm planning to do a complete reinstall pretty soon. Maybe that'll fix it.

Well, there's a strange ending to this story. When I was using this card at home I was using a 6 foot video cable and not getting a picture on the TV. Back at college I'm using an 18 foot cable (TV's in another room) and it's working perfectly.

I don't get it.

Sounds like you may have a poor quality or defective cable.

I checked the cable with a multimeter. There was almost zero resistance between the ends of the cable. I also used an S-Video cable going to an RF modulator and that didn't work.

And yet when I use the 18 foot cable (three 6 foot cables coupled together) it works just fine.

I had similar problems with the 40.xx drivers since i went back to 30.82 the tv out works fine.

Is there a known issue with the 40 series det drivers?
