PC 2700=PC 3200??????? info request

Someone told me that because pc 2700 and pc 3200 have the same voltages and stuff that i can use 3200 on a board that claims to only support 2700. Sounds bogus to me but RAM is a field that i'm still learning.
 
You can certainly use 3000, 3200, or 3500 on a board that is rated for 2700. But you've wasted you money if you don't overclock the board to the memory's rated levels.

You may be able to push 2700 to the higher levels, i.e. 3000 or even more, but this is really dependent on the particular memory stick itself (how lucky you get). :cool:
 
One other thing to keep in mind - there is currently no *official* standard on anything higher than PC2700 memory. In other words, PC3000, 3200, 3500, and now 3700 memory sticks are jut handpicked overclocked PC 2700 sticks, nothing more (at least, not until JEDEC gets off its collective *** and certifies a PC3200 standard)...
