this is what i plan to suit my radeon with :D

Global Win CAK38-II Copper s462 Cooling Fan
Thermalright SK-6+ Copper Heatsink X2
Vantec 520W Aluminum 3 Fan Power Supply
Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive

all of this just to get my previous results on air cooling and try out a new volt mod :)

I did lots of measurements and this seams to work the best with the dimentions that i have to work with. The 2 sk-6's will be cut into 2 and then resized to fit on 2 memory chips each. I WILL DEFEAT THE HEAT!!

I should sell this as the ultimate air cooling kit if i get this working. It's a good thing i now have an agp lock because this will be one heavy beast :D

ugg the fan on the cak-38 II is soooo annoying! I couldn't stand it. I find the vantec tornado to be much more easy on the ears!

Anyways hope it works for you! :)

the cak-38 is only being chosen because it can easily be modded. I may change the fan.

i just made a change in my plan. instead of wasting money on sk-6's i'm just going to buy 2 thermaltake ram coolers and cut those up. Also i was a little worried about the wieght of this all! A Cak-38 pluse 2 sk-6's does wiegh a considerable amount.

If the card snaps, I'm sure I'll hear you all way from Canada :D

I doubt it would be an issue though. Isn't the 9700 4 layer PCB? It should tolerate a good deal of weight.

Heh I think you need to build a frame to hold this heap up ;)

well since I'm going to have 2 heatsinks and some custom RAMsinks on my card I'd like to hear about it if you do make a frame
