ok, i dont know exactly what the problem is so i dont wanna bash the card. my system was runing fine, then i started getting random crashes. so i formatted and reinstalled windows. worked perfect for a day or so. then i turned on my comp, bam crash. and it wont boot with that card in. so now, i am back on my old voodoo 3. i think it could be poer supply related but im not so sure, i have 350 watt enermax. i have had bad luck with video cards since i got my epox mobo. i think something may be wrong with the agp slot. i really have no clue where to start with this. ive been planning on getting a new mobo so this seems like a good time to get one, but should i get a new P/S as well? thanks guys
RMA the card if you can't boot it something is wrong

Are you running current 4 in 1 drivers for your mobo? The 9700 can be fussy if you are not.

no im not, but it shouldnt matter, cause i cant even get into the bios screen with it. i think it may be the power supply, because i have a cold cathode, and i tired to turn it on and the fuse for it was blown. so i htink i may get a new power supply while im at it.
Definatly try the card in another system, or even try a difference card in ur system (preferable one thats not as power consuming if u think its the PSU), and see if u can trouble shoot

hi
it sounds like psu power?
i got 550 its fine!
thx........
try disconnecting the lght and anything else that consumes power and isn't necessary. 350W is a little weak, nvidia reccomends a 300W PSU for the GF4 Ti cards and the 9700 uses quite a bit more power then they do.
If the card itself is faulty then you *should* get a bios beep code that points to a video error. trying the 9700 in another machine would (obviously) be good and see if you can borrow an agp card from work or a friend to see if it will work properly, I would imagine it will.
Try disabling fast writes for the 9700 and updating your 4in1s (if you can get it to post) to see if that will stop the random crashes.

ok, i a using an agp card in my machine right now. its a v3 3000. i dont have my speaker connected because i dont need it, i have an epox baord and it has its error codes, it says FF. which in the manual says add in card. so i dont know yet for sure. i already ordered some new stuff, i got tbred 1800+, asus a7n8x, volcano 7, sparkle 350 watt. see if all this stuff fixes it.

i tried th card at work and it works. i mean i didnt really stress it or anything, but i could get it to install and everything without any problems. i realy think its a power supply issue, but i am not rulling out a mobo issue either.
Definatly look into a new PSU. I dont think its the fact that ur pushing the PSU to much (though u may with the light...i dont know how much power those consume), cuz ive got my 9500 Pro running in a mid tower case that totaly full, overclocked, and has 6 case fans, and im on a 300w PSU, so it may be that u just got a "not so good" PSU
*edit* Just noticed its Enermax...i heard about some voltage problems those had, so that may be y ur having problems
