help needed P4PE mobo

hi
got my asus p4pe
with a 2.4b c1
and corsair xms memory pc3200c2

when i try to boot it up it
the voice tells me "system failed cpu test"
so i am leaded to belive my cpu is broken
but a thought came to me

and maybe the motherboard is broken and may be reporting to me wrong messages

so i tried taking out the cpu and boot it up
and it tells me "no cpu installed"

does this mean the motherboard is 100% working?

right now trying to find a friend that has a p4 system for me to test my cpu if it's working

any opinion on this
if the motherboard can think and see that there is no cpu installed
when i take it out
does it mean the motherboard is 100% working?

Mine did that message once. I pressed the reset button on the case (act of desparaton) and the mobo reset the bios to the default settings. No more problems.
