ok, since i'm fairly new to the whole videocard overclocking (i know, i should be drug out in the street and shot) but i was curious if this score was decent for my fianceé's msi gf3 ti500 64mb.

this is with stock cooling plus cheapy 80mm unknown cfm (low from what i can tell) fan on the pcb behind the core.

i haven't pushed higher, but i also don't have anything to directly stress it other than games.

270 core 600(300) memory

just curious and posting befor ei go to sleep, otherwise i guess i'd take the time to try and find the exclusive videocard oc'er sites avg's.

Guess I am missing something here - what score?Get 3dmark 2001se and run it default speeds and then up the card speed till she locks or artifacts.I do believe you will not get much more speed out of that card tho.

I just tried running my at 260/600 and locked half way thru 3dmark.Runs fine at 260/570 with a 240 point increase over stock speed.Weird that I didnt get any artifacts or anything it just locked in the high detail lobby scene.

270/600 is a nice overclock for sure but have you tested stability in 3Dmark2001 or in a 3d game?

i have 56k and 3dmark kills it.

as for the overclock, i have pleyed bf1942 for 11 hours on it at this clock with no artifacts and no lock-ups. i need more games to be satisfied, or i wait till i get dsl, OR i go to campus and abuse the t1 for a quickie download of 3dmark.

anyway, the fan is just sitting on it. it's not fastened on or anything but the case isn't moved so i don't worry about the fan moving yet. when i'm satisfied what it can handle now, i'll see if i can put some better cooling on it and also rig something to affix the fan on there.

it's probably not a good idea just to leave a large fan sitting directly on your vid card PCB. Better basic case cooling with front intake fan(s) and rear exhaust fan(s) would cool your vid card and entire system much more effectively.

i have that as well. this was mostly just for experimnetation purposes.

You can do some soldering and increase the voltage to your card and get some extra Mhz from your core and Ram, I just read an article and they had a GF3 @ 270/600 I'm sure a Ti500 should over-volt the same.
