GEForce2 Ti w/64ram Help - Please

I received this card from my brother (who said it worked fine) but, for me - not!.
When I select True Color 32bit, and select "apply" w/o restarting it works. BUT, when I restart the PC it gets to the desktop than shuts down and restarts in Safe Mode. Than it tells me this:

"There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect, or the current setting does not work with your hardware"

It works fine in 800x600 High Color, but will have nothing to do with True Color in any screen size. What's wrong? Anyone know?
Please help! I need true color to play a new game I got - Morrowind.

The rest of the system is:
AMD Athlon 1000, 256m Ram, 30Gigs, Windows 98SE
I have the new DirectX 9 installed along with the latest card's drivers.
Please, please help.

When you say the latest card drivers, do you mean from NVidia, or from the card manufacturer? Whichever you mean, I would try the drivers from the other source. I know that windows can sometimes get real finicky about driver/hardware mix.

Also does Win correctly identify your card when look in the device manager? It may think you have a slightly different card and therefore need (in their opinion) slightly different drivers.

I originally used the manufacturer's drivers. I downloaded and installed the NVidia's drivers today and it works now! I never would have thunk it!
