Hi all,
I am going to buy a video card, either Radeon 9000 Pro or Radeon 8500LE.
I care more about image quality instead of raw 3D performance, I know that 8500LE is faster than 9000 Pro in 3D.
I would like to know if Radeon 9000 Pro has better image quality than 8000LE.
Thanks

Does BBA version really have better image quality than those OEM or other brands

i saw a review somewhere that said that 2D quality was a little better than the Gigabyte cards but as long as you buy from a good manyfacturer IQ should be very good, get a card from Ati, Gigabyte, Tyan, or Hercules
I thought the 9000 had a bit better image quality then the 8500? and doesnt the 9000 have a *little* bit of extra Dx9 support? im not talkin full just a few little snippits in there, ithought i read somthing about that

huh I do not beleive so they are pretty much equal although I think you are correct in the fact that the 9000 offers a couple things the 8500 does not but I dot think it has to do with DX9 but then again I could be wrong
gonna check a couple of articles

the 9000 has built in support for smoothing out streaming video(less blocky), that is the only 'new' feature it can boast over the 8500
I would suggest and actual ATI built card though, also adding to the list of 9000PRO check marks here. ATI will run better ram.

I think The R8500LE has a 350mhz RAMDAC, while the R9000 supports a 400mhz RAMDAC....
The IQ on each card is excellent, and you'd be hard pressed to pick one over the other

Just read anandtech.com's review on Radeon 9000.
It mentioned that FULLSTREAM is the new feature that Radeon 8500 doesn't have.
Besides this FULLSTREAM technology, is there any other new features that Radeon 8500 does not have ?

Either the pixel shader or vertex shader has been modified , so even though the 8500 currently runs faster than the 9000 Pro , some ppl feel that the 9000 pro will actually do better in more complex games later this year .

OK, I am going to go with ATI Retail Version Radeon 9000 Pro.

One thing to be careful of , the most recent revisions of the 9000 Pro have been locked by ATI to prevent overclocking . Ppl are currently working on 3rd party bioses to allow oc'ing . But be warned that you may get one which doesn't oc ! And may have to wait til someone hacks the bios like they did with the 9500 Pro .
There is one LESS pixel shader, tho it is highley optimized, it is still slower that the 8500's 2, by a long ****, who knows, mabe ATI will manage to pump out some new drivers to beef up the one the 9000 has
But still, does the 9000 have ANY dx 9 features.....any at all?!

ATi currently have enough problem with those 9500 128mb non pro version :D :D
Anyone can help me?? I am getting an ATi card soon and planning to use it on 17" Monitor ..... which I think normally use res up to 1280x1024 or maybe 1680x.....
Which cards is the best for me?? Radeon 9500 128 mb is good but I dont even know how to solder that thing :D , thinking of 8500LE,8500,9000PRo and 9500
oH and I need a 128mb card , dont ask me why but i feel i need it someday :D

Radeon 9000 only supports DirectX8.1. It doesn't fully support DirectX 9. I am not sure about Radeon 8500.
When it it comes to ocing video cards, im a total n00b. Even bigger than regularly =[. Anyway does ocing a vid card give it a LOT of performance gain, or is it just like a 100-200 mhz gain?
Anyway, after reading this thread it seems the 9000 pro is slightly better. Anything I should watch out for?

I think ATI retail version 9000 Pro also supports dual display, while 8500LE doesn't support this for sure.

s[H]sIkuA what are you thinkin? go with the 9500 even w/o any mods to it it beats all the cards u mention plus it has dx9 and 8x agp so u could use it in ur furture system. and it's only getting easier to mod them , they have software mods out now and u don't have to do any soldering.

did the 9000 has 10bits per color channel??
I have used both of the cards and came to the conclusion that the R9000's have about 2%-5%sharper image quality thanthe r8500's

wow you must have eyes of an eagle to estimate the image quality difference of 2 cards by such a small percentage
Lol ya, but im still wondering about those DX 9 stuff in the 9000......
When DX9 games come out, the R9000's will be obsolete (they already are somewhat)
