My former card was a 64mb Rage which overclocked (just a bit) was giving me 84 fps peak and ran around 78-82 fps 95% of the time.

I decided to upgrade today to a 128 ati 9000 radeon and installed all the drivers blah blah blah, and it tops out at 50 fps, wont go 1 higher at all...actually it wont drop either so a solid 50 fps. Is there something I can do to adjust the fps? I tried changing the refresh rate to 100 but it doesnt change anything.

Help! :)

Is AA turned on? If so, turn it off and your FPS should skyrocket.

Jimingle10... from what i see, AA is turned on or off in a game if it supports it... so i guess you just disable it when running that program for your benchies..... well i could also be wrong... but then i coudlnt find a reasuring web page which tells me how to turn it off/on.

ill keep on looking

ps.. THT.... where you referring to AA or FSAA???

Have you check to see if your agp writes is enabled. seems to be a common problem with ati cards and new drivers which you probably have since you upgraded. The problem became clear to me only when I noticed that the smart utility from the rage3d tweak kept disabling it or at least I though it did not sure since I installed both at the same time. The only perfect fix is a clean reformat with the new drivers. But I did figure out a work around if your using the rage tweak. Enable the smart utility and enable writes it will ask for a reboot but don't do it. Every time it reboots it disables it at least for me and 2 others I know using 9700( I have an 8500). I did it and then ran the 3dmark and boom like a %400 increase.I didn't realize how bad it was cause it ran as well as my gef2 ti but after getting those writes enabled boom did it run smooth and look good.

Wait what game are you using.....this post is confusing me.....FPS in what game, you prolly just have to up the FPS max. Is its counterstrike i believe its max_fps 100 to set it to 100 in the console.
