ok, corsair says that the xms pc3500 is 434mhz ram. if i have a ddr333 mother board (see sigi) is there any point?

sandra shows my mem speed at 203mhz which ddr would make that 406mhz, that is the speed that corsair is refering to right?

the pc3500 would be about right for me then?

also, according to corsairs web site the 2700, 3000, and the 3200 all have the same mem timings. so what is the actually difference. or is there any?

pc3500 or pc3200 would be fine if you are running them at 200Mhz. while the timings on the 2700, 3000, and 3200 may be the same, the frequency they will run with those timings is not, i.e. 2700 was tested to run with those timings at 166Mhz, 3000 at 183Mhz, and 3200 at 200Mhz.

They may be physically different. If they test the RAM and it runs CAS2 at DDR434 then they will slap on a PC3500 on that stick. If it only reached DDR333 then they put on a PC2700 that stick.

but if you are only reaching fsb speeds of 200mhzx2=400mhz than any memoery over pc3200 the bandwith would be wasted. unless you are reaching buss speeds over 400mhz.

just like the kt 333 boards. they only support the 266 fsb, but they support pc2700@333 even though the memory was running 333mhz you are are limited to the chips intake of 266mhz.

I don't follow you. I have an 8K3A (KT333) with an XP 1600 running at 10 x 190FSB. Memory bandwidth scales with the FSB

thats write you are limited to youre bus speed. if you are runing the ram in sync with youre cpu. unless you can reach the rated buss speed of youre memory than it is being wasted.

what are youre memory bandwith benches @190mhz.

At 190 with the 8K3A it is around 2750/2650 or so... Here is the A7N8X at 200:

Yeah there is definatly a point to that high speed memory, especially with the new nforce2 boards which are making it easier to attain such high fsb settings.

youre 8k3a (via kt 333) is running cpu and memory at 190x2 340mhz fsb at the same time. do you have locked pci slots? the shuttle ak35gt2 (via kt 333) i had let you run cpu at 133x2=266 and memory 166x2=333. even though the memory was running 333 the bandwidth was only reaching 266mhz speeds like 2000mb/s the bandwith was being wasted.

couldn't reach the high fsb speeds becuase there was no 5:2:1 cpu to pci divider!
