Anyone tried Zalmans passive cooling solution for the 9700 pro? Im thinking of buying it if it performs resonable.

yeah it is working awsome, I also did some other major mod cooling to the card, you can see the pics under this link, everything in the link is my system up to date... I run at 392 / 696 peak at stock voltage with this setup and score 17340 on 3dse. all sinks are cool to the touch after gaming and also the chip sinks are only slightly warm. Whole system works great and now I feel comphy knowing I will not burn myself sticking my hand to close to the 9700 pro *L* hottest running card I have ever seen until now :)

Ehm - but I meant WITHOUT a fan you know. Did you try it without the fan?

I steals one PCI slot too, right?

Sure I know something you dont. The cooling solution discussed here IS passive. Read about it here: http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/product/zm80a-hp.htm

Sapphire Radeon Pro Ultimate comes with the Zalman cooler, plus ramsinks.
Performs the same (slightly better) than reference 9700 Pro.
