I recently bought a geforce4 ti-4600 name on the box is ASYLUM.
Bought it from bestbuy. I recently bought the geforce4 cooling kit made by thermaltake(http://www.thermaltake.com/products/chipset/g4.htm)
Tried to overclock with coolbits reg. patch. It wouldnt run 3dmark2001se with just a slight increase 310,660.
So i put it back to normal and ran 3dmark to make sure it was running ok, it did fine. Next thing i did was check the card itself and low and behold the ramsinks on the back of the card where warm, but when i touched the middle of the card where the chip is on the other side, it damn near burnt my hand. Anyone have any clue as to why it would be so hot, didnt check before i put the new hsf on so i dont know if this is new or not, but i thought i was buying a good hsf..... i used artic silver 3 for the hsf and the double sided tape that came with the ramsinks. Just thought i would ask some of you guys what you think the problem might be, i think i am going to apply the old hsf on the back side. See if that helps. Thanks for any help , oh and by the way the agp core is set to normal 2.5.

Maybe the heatsink doesn't make a good contact with the chip.Check this first.

i hear those thermaltake ones are crappy. crystal orb is the way to go, ramsinks are pretty basic, you can pick up some tin coated copper ones at www.sidewindercomputers.com for pretty cheap (BGA sinks)

ive dont remember hearing about ASYLUM cards..ill look into it though

is it like this?

IMHO, i would recommend scraping the thermaltake heatsink, they are mostly for looks..reviews on them are not much better than stock cooling, crystal orb's are nice though....just my opinion though

isnt it possible though that the card is jsut not that great for overclocking? i get my 4400 up to 310/630 stable. (btw i got one of those thermaltake G4 coolers coming in the mail. i hear that you need to put another fan blowing across the ramsinks so it can cool bc they are vertical sinks. not horizontal)
