im serously considering getting this card also.
1- i need a better card in my main rig.
2-nvidea has had ample time to prepare this card and shouldnt be no problems like the 9700 had.
3-$400 is really kinda cheap for top the line agp card.
but a question what other versions are they making? is this the lowest one? ya know i dont wanna pay that kinda $$ and get a gf4mx card rebadged.btw i knew this card was just ok when i bought.as ive been waiting on something like this.
Wow you need a 350watt PS Minimum to run the card. You have to plug in a 4pin Molex connector to it.
I'm pretty sure this is the top brand, HardOCP I think said that they will be making the LOWER versions sometime in april :) I also was jus informed by someone there could be a 256 mb version but i doubt it :o

Since when has FX gone according to plan?
I'm sure you'll enjoy the product, but that's almost a two month wait (probably about a hundredth of your entire time on earth so far).

nVidia had better do it, or im sure ATi will do it before them. 256mb of video memory is not all that much actually. Just ask any major reviewer (how about Brent from HardOCP for example)...they have all been saying 256mb gaming cards should be here now, as all future games will be pushing 128mb to the limit with high details.
I remember the good ole days when I wanted to get a 32mb geforce and i discovered there had been 64 mb. Thats when I bought a Radeon 7200 64 mb :p Then I discovered 128 mb version was coming out and i was like, wow thats a lot. Now 256 is supposedly coming out but who gets it first? Im gonna be fine with this card for a while, I can't wait for a 512 mb version to come out :)

Inquirer never said the price was $700 tard, that was x-bit labs quoting the price of a Club3D Geforce FX at a european retailer. Inquirer quoted a price the price of a Sparkle Geforce FX card listed on a European retailers web site at $329 in english pounds which translates into over $500 US. You're the one that's wrong again HAHA, sigh....

One thing to mention of interest. It's floating around that BFG is saying this is a true NV30 (500core,500ddrII) but denies the existence of any 256Mb version.
The first part is probably true but the second part comes as a surprise.
OT, I think 128mb is pretty much overkill, needing 1/4 of a CD to store the texture data of each scene is pretty steep. I suspect that memory management is a far bigger bottleneck.

Guess what...lots of nVidia ppl said it would be $500. There was a pic from CompUSA confirming a price of $500 on a 256mb card. (i think it said 256mb...not totaly sure if it said it or not though.) And actually Best Buy will likely get priority over Newegg when it comes to shipping. Why is that u wonder? Because they are a hell of a lot bigger, and order a lot more. And guess what, these pre-orders are going to be filled LONG before newegg gets their hands on one. Look at that...ur the one who was wrong

I agree that NewEgg remark made little sense. More accurate would be "Early March means sometime before next year, and it'll be cheaper the next week (when NewEgg gets it)"
I see no advantage to the preorder, which locks in the highest price and includes a hat I'll lose, a shirt that won't fit me, and a game demo I could download in exchange... and next day shipping you have to wait a month and a half for.

as for the memory issue, i have a computer sitting under my desk at my feet that only has 48 mb of ram :D i just find it so amusing that a video card could, in theory, completely outpower that whole system haha they need to start kicking out the major games if they plan on 512 mb or 256 for all that goes... there are still a lot of people with 32 or sub-32 mb cards. remember that we are all a rare breed of people who upgrade very often... there are large groups of people who will easily go 4 years without even opening their computer cases. and it's those people who make all the money for the graphics card companies. remember, it's the little guys (geforce 4 mx's) that bring in the cash. they have the same general name of their big brother counterparts, but lack the processing power, so they appeal to the general public because they are, for the most part, illiterate when it comes to specs.
I agree Mbently...but thats also y they have low, medium, and high qualitys :) The "high quality", IMO, should ALWAYS be able to push some of the latest hardware around, while low quality allows games to be run on the lowest common denominator.
