My 9500 mod results.

I broke down and decided to buy a Saphire Radeon 9500 and test my luck.

It worked great, well sort of.

default I got 10256 3dmarks on one of my backup systems

spcs:
xp1800 at 166x9 512 pc2100 2,3,3,6 A7v333

I O/C the card to 325/600 with Rivatuner then I installed the Wizzard drivers and jumped to 12295 and it works great!

now for the Problem....

I have one tiny pixle, square block that shows up in the same spot on the screen in all 3d games/benchmarks. It kinda flashes then draws itself in.

its not always there,
kinda happens most when the screen changes drastic colors, like turning while looking at a black building then looking at a light grey wall.

when I first set up I was looking for major Artifacting/ checkerboarding but there is none at all i was happy, but
after spotting this one tiny spot it bothers me lol.

anyone else have this problem?

Fixed it.

card is now 100%

getting a fill rate of : Single 1753.8
multi 2587.0

Changed Z compression mode from "Driver Default" to "Low" in Rage 3d tweak, under Direct3d settings.

running overclocked at 330/590

Happy camper now!

What are these Wizzard drivers? Are they only for 9500's that have been hacked into 9500 Pro's?

Wizzard drivers are just a file you add to the orignial radeon Drivers folder.

after you replace the file you re-install drivers and it forces the computer to "think" the 9500 is a 9700 and uses the 4 shut off pipelines.

to make it simple, its all done with software,

step 1> download wizzards file and install. (this enables all 8 pipelines)

step 2> download O/C utility and O/C your card. (Rivatuner,Rage3d tweak,powerstrip, ect)

step 3> be forced into having a Big Sh** eating grin on your face for the next few days cause you now have a $300+ card for half the price.

Well I just broke down and ordered a 2nd card to see if I can actually get one to get some good fill rate scores.

Dunno if you have done it this way.. but with w1zzrard patch you execute the wxp-w2k-radeon-7-81-021218a-007193c file..

Let it unzip to a directory but cancel the installation.

Then replace the ati2mtag.sys with the patch ati2mtag.sys file from w1zzard.

And install away....


worked for me on XP and W2k..

also.. I read that XP restores official XP certified drivers to original state.

I've done the installation several different ways and it always gives me the same output. The Rivatuner script and the w1zzard way are essentially the same thing.
