THINKING OF BUYING A Tyan Tachyon 9700? READ THIS

If your in the market for this card make sure YOU CALL THE VENDOR and ask if the box SPECIFICLY states it has hardware monitoring. Version 1.0 (MOST BEING SOLD IN STORES) Do not have hardware monitoring, the reason is most vendors cut and paste Tyans product info.

IF THE BOX DOESN'T SAY IT SUPPORTS HARDWARE MONITORING, IT DOESN'T

Just so you are aware, all current tachyon 9700 Pro's are equipped with the hardware monitoring software. Only a few of the first-release cards came without hardware monitoring, i.e. ones that were sent to sites who do initial testing (tomshardware, Hardocp, etc..etc..)

This card will be at my door in the morning, so I'll confirm if what I heard is true. I'll also post some benchmarks too :clap:

Does anyone else have this card?? I'm REALLY looking forward to the hardware monitoring software, which was a major seller for me; that and [H]ardocp's review, which is HERE (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDA0LDE=)

I promised benchmarks, and so far without any overclocking at all, I snagged a 15,405 on 3Dmark2K1se (which seems right on with most tests). I don't have 2k3 yet, but I'll see what I can do tonight.

I'll probably push a little just to break 16k on the old 3d mark, as it would make my little puter and me proud :D

It did come with hardware monitoring, and it works wonderfully.
Hopefully more card makers will follow suit.

These are with Catalyst 3.1 drivers and Dx9.0.

more info....finally got 3dMark 2k3, and scored 4751 all stock settings.

Yeah, do retail 9500 Pro's (Built by ATi) have hardware monitoring?

1- No, you can't use a different brand of card with the hardware monitoring, it has to be a tyan (special PCB and such).

2-As far as I know, there isn't another vendor that's making Radeons with hardware monitoring, and it's too bad.

Here's the real kicker.. Tyan has also added manual fan control to their hardware monitoring capability. So you can turn the fan speed up or down depending on your needs. Now that's Sweet!
