After reading some of these threads, I thought its time to help educate those who are not as educated in the world of music/sound and computers. The following links will undoubtedly help all those people with sound dissabilities on thier PC's as well as increase system performance across the board.
http://www.nemesysmusic.com/support/W2k_XP_Optimize.pdf
http://www.musicxp.net/
http://www.timos-welt.de/cubase/xp_tips_e.htm
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

And for those who already know this stuff......pass on the info to those who don't.......

Oh, and one more thing......To all those people who think audigy sucks........For sound cards on the NON-PROFFESIONAL level.....
The Audigy out performs and out runs the competition by a couple of hundred miles.......And if you don't think I have a clue as to what I say.......just compare how many Audio/MIDI channels your sound card can have open and running to that of an Audigy and then you will really see which Low end Sound Card is the best......Because this is a real test for a sound cards quality.....

The links seems most to optimize XP in general, but there were some good tips in there

BTW the 3rd link doesn't work.

oh no,
The test of a souncards quality is not the maximum audio channel
capability.
Its the Sigal to noise ratio of the analog to digital (and visa-versa)
converters and the dynamic range at which they can manage to record/playback the audio. And also the quality of the drivers used for low latency opertaion.

Bells and whistles are ok, audidgy is fine for gaming and a little
home playing at studio, but its SnR is terrible, and the converters are shocking, as are the pre-amps for mic/guitars and the ASIO
drivers alough a nice touch are still bad.

And I agree with you 100%.....Thats why I'm saving up for a MOTU setup:cool: ......but for the low end audio cards the audigy is the only reasonable choice.....and for a basic test purpose, the number of audio and midi channels(with synths loaded) running at once is a test one can do....

motu rule, thier cards are great, and if u use a mac thier software is cool too,
be careful what motu card u have in a pc though thier pc support
leaves alot to be desired, apart from the firewire ones,
the others work great on a mac, but only s-so on a pc, like the 2408 etc...
