I am a newbie. What exactly does the memory timing do? Is it the delay between certain memory operations? What should the default be for PC-2100 CAS2.5? What should I change it to for higher performace? What does each number represent?

Thanks alot.

the ram timings are how fast everything work/interacts. the lower the settings the better. most of the good kinds of ram like corsair will tell u what the default times are for a particular stick are. u can always play around with the numbers and see how low u can get them and still be stable.

In your bios, for memory timings it will have the option of Manual or By SPD. If you choose By SPD it will change the timings to the default once that were programmed into the memory. Choosing manual lets you change them.
