Hi,

I just upgraded my RAID array (HPT 372 on BD7II-RAID) with two new disks. Now I am trying to put one of the old disks on the primary IDE controller while still booting off the RAID controller.

Well, when I do this, not only is the array not bootable but it also does not show up to the OS as being an available fixed disk. I verified this with FDISK. Only the drive on the primary controller shows up. As soon as I unplug the old disk, wham! XP boot like a charm.

I've verified the boot order is correct in the BIOS, in fact the onboard controllers aren't even listed in the boot order.

I have also forced an ESCD update to no avail.

Any ideas?

I had a similar situation. Ended up having to delete all the partitions and reinstall XP with all the disks set up correctly.

You will need the HPT372 driver disk, of course to install XP.

And make sure that your boot sequence are all set to boot from the raid array.
