View Full Version : Quad Speakers - SB live? or Audigy 1-2?

I have been using my quad speaker setup for some time now and are going to stick with it. The reason being that I have 2 pioneer amps 2x120rms kind and 4 wharfdale speakers. I have been using a Sound Blaster Live DE 5.1 with this.
Is there any point moving to an Audigy with a quad setup or should I stick to may SB live? So if its the Audigy should I get Audigy DE for cheap or pay twice as much for an Audigy 2?
The IT7 max im getting next week will have onboard sound, will this be better than what I have now?
Im gonna be gaming heaps from now on, so is the EAX 2 and HD present on the SB Audigy DE? Would this make a difference in quad mode. All reviews I read are alway about 5.1 or more, I won't be going that road. Quad all the way.
I wish I could hear to know.

Yeah, it's pretty dead. :-/ I would go with the audigy/audigy 2. The 2 is supposed to sound better, you just have to decide if the extra cost is worth it to you. I've got an SB Live! and when I hooked it into my home theater, I was apalled how bad it sounded. It was really sort of flat and muffled sounding. That was using the analog outs. If you're using the digital connection, your mileage may vary. My live is the original Value so it doesn't have the 5.1 output.

Is 2 any better for gaming effects? or just improved sound quailty. If 1 has all the gaming effect as 2 then 1 will be best cause its half price. Whos cause about a extra khz, effects are best.

Sound like you have to make a personal decision to me. The way you audio sounds is just like debating on which mouse feels the best in you hand.

The diffference I have never heard any more than my SBlive working. I don't do lan parties.

thanks, im am now convinced.

audigy 2, you rip off! , im gonna shell out for the lastest and greatest.

I hope they dont bring out something else this year or it WILL be a rip off. An Audigy 2 wil become a SBlive Eqivilent

There is alot of other options that are better, or cheaper (usually both).
