Anyone know where to get a good price for the Maxtor 80 gig 8 mb cache HD. Model 6Y080P0? Looks like I'm needing one, and I haven't been able to find any real good deals. About 107 bux shipped is the best price I've seen.
Cheers,
Mike

NICE CHOICE! I have the exact same harddrive that you're looking for (its awesome). Googlegear.com is selling them for 109.00, and since you're not it Cali, you'd get free tax.
*edit* OOPS, i thought that best price that you found was 119. Sorry! (incidentally, its 110 shipped from googlegear.com 2nd day)

Wonder if that 40 buck rebate is just for Fry's or is it a Maxtor rebate for the whole country?

Ugh, I'm sorry, I was thinking western digital. That's what Fry's has.

Oh well------
I went to BB and was specifically looking for the Dmax +9 with the 80 gig platter. (Do a search at xbit labs on this platter difference.) I would have paid their premium price if it would have had the 80 gig platter. I actually opened the box and looked, but it was the 60 gig platter. Sheez if I'm going to get the older HD I might as well get it as cheap as possible. I still haven't figured out why WD charges such a higher price for their 8 mb cache HDs?
Cheers,
Mike
