View Full Version : Cheapest ATI 9700 Pro?
I don't think I can wait for the r350, so Im looking for the best/cheapest/reliable place to get a 9700 Pro Built by ATI.
So far I found one in retail box at pcavailable for $325

You can get it at OC system (http://www.ocsystem.com/atirad8512dd1.html) for $268 with free ground shipping.
That's a pretty sweet deal, however I checked out the ratings on them, doesn't look very good at all..
So I dunno, just something to consider ;)

Ouch low score in fact to low for my liking.

i ordered a case from them awhile ago and i didnt have any problems, although their RMA service is probably the reason for a low rating.
Hrmm.. found one at crucial.com.. are the crucial 9700 pro's any good? its $320 at their site.. pcavailable has an OEM for like $270... buyxtremegear.com has an OEM for $280 and retail for $324.. all of their reseller ratings seem good..
the dif between oem and retail is the retail box right? oem still has all the software...?

crucial makes ram i thought........ but hey they make great ram so if it is the came company i am thinking of, then id say the card is good also. haha

Crucial is supposed to make one horrible 9700 Pro. Something to do with slower memory clocks than most other OEMs, becuase they use slower chips.
Powercolor has a 9700 Pro for $291 on Newegg. You might want to look into that one...seems like a good deal to me.
Nevermind..price went to 299, and it's sold out.
Shesh, I can't find any 9700 Pro's in stock at newegg except for the Hercules model, which is a little steep at $375.
Found one...FIC model, and 296 shipped. I'm not sure about the quality of FIC products though, but it looks just like the Ati version and has a five star rating.
Hrmm I've just looked at about 5 benchmarks that each show the Crucial 9700 Pro at 325/620 stock and memory is rated at 2.8ns. This seems pretty good, maybe you were thinking about crucial's 8500 which had memory at 166mhz, 332 ddr.. yuck.
I've heard bad things about PowerCooler, I kind of want to stay with the ref. design, which from reviews, crucial and sapphire are almost identical to the Built by ATI 9700 Pro. I'm also concerned with the quality/speed of the site which I order from, and crucial.com has a ressellerrating of almost 10.

If you don't mind refurb you can get a radeon 9700 pro for 230 from newegg...they usually have 1 every week

New egg refurb usually has the radeon 9700 pro for 230
..the powercolor 9700 pro is too identical/alsmot to any built by ati card...i bought mine from enwegg when it was 291..its a great deal

Got a refurbished one from newegg a while ago for 240 and works great
The Crucial 9700 Pro doesn't seem to overclock as high as the other makers, but it is none-the-less a good card and it comes with a LIFETIME warranty, better than the 1-year warranty you get with most OEMs and even better than the retail's 3-year warranty.
I too am looking for a 9700 Pro deal, but it looks like waiting till sometime in March is the best bet. Prices are going to be cut ~15% across the board from ATI to prepare for the R/RV 350, read it at X-bit Labs (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/story.html?id=1045520279)

Check out www.buyxtremegear.com. They have em for cheap and have a decent reseller rating.
I saw that, but they don't say what it's clocked at, and since its OEM it could be lower
I also emailed them asking what it's clocked at a few days ago, and still haven't gotten a responde... bad service if they don't reply to your emails..

There is a Gigabyte 9700 pro available right now, it might still be there if you hurry.
I have a link setup in the sticky about newegg refurbs.
*nevermind* gone already.

I know it's no big deal but I made a small purchase from OC System and had no problems with them at all. They are on the west coast so shipping to FL took a while but other than that I think they are ok.

Hey Wangster...nice to see I'm not the only Ferret here..lol.

the powercolor 9700 pro at buyxtremegear.com says it is 325mhz core... and 620mhz ddr for mem speed.. looks ok to me. plus reviews on the powercolor card say that it is identical to the reference board and is just as good as the other cards. i might get this one since newegg is out of stock. i dont really need the software bundle anyways....
not to mentoin is only 277 bucks... it comes with all the goods needed too:
1 set A/V cable / S-Video Cable.
CD Driver with S/W DVD player.
Power Extension cable.
Cool Color Hard Casing Pack.
DVI to CRT Dongle.
S-video to AV converter.
