I tried to install some of my old favortie games on my win2k machine and I got an error that said "16 bit program cannot be run" and I was just wondering if XP will fix this problem cause I want to play some motoracer 2. Either that or I could dual boot 98 and 2k but I really hate setting up operating systems.
I dont think that it will. That is why some people dual boot thier machines. Computer Gaming World Magazine has an article on dual booting in this months (February) mag, you might want to check it out.

i think that xp only runs 32 bit applications but i might be wrong after all everyone has a overclocker550 moment or two in their life.
it depends on the application....
theres this game called legacy, don't know if any of you have heard of it but its one of the oldest role playing games for the pc ever... that will run on windows xp, most the hero quest games can be ran, the first 3d mechwarrior can be ran. typically for games that old though, it requires that you get a cpu speed killer to get the game to run at the desireable speed. there is probably programs that don't work too i dunno, but i can tell you that i'm running xp pro and i have alot of oldies game that work fine... although i often get no sound and it a million times too fast.
windows xp definitely can run 16 bit programs, but i feel that their is probably a difference between the backwords compatable execution of a program in windows xp 32-bit command prompt, than the older ms-dos command prompt... possibly some things were possible to do with the xp command promp and some things were not possible. I wish I had a more complete answer.
