View Full Version : UT2003 higher detail
Hi,
I heard somewhere that you could unlock even higher detail in UT2003 if you wanted. So does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks.

There was a rumor out that you could unlock a higher detail with a geforce FX. It is obviously untrue, but not like anybody is going to be buying a FX anyway...
Yeah, I just heard that it was some value in one of the files that you changed.

It is in this forum somewhere. It's for Unreal 2 though which both use the same engine right?

http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=165685&highlight=unreal%2A two-thirds down the page you will see a post by OC-Master:
"Thats because you got one of the recommended cards The Radeon 9700 Pro is premier of the cards on the list and therefore, your gonna have an awesome experience with this game FPS wise at least.
Wanna make that card crawl?
Open Unreal2.ini, its in your Unreal2/System directory...
Now scroll down to the part that says,
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
Now look for the two values,
DetailTexMipBias
DefaultTexMipBias
OK, now set both these values to =-16.000000
Save, then your done.
NOW your gonna see some huge improvements to graphics along with the ULtimate slow down of your PC ahahahahahaha.
Enjoy the eye candy thou fore I bet its gonna look soo sweet on the 9700

Just look for a .ini in your UT2K3 folder and look for the values listed above.
Woohooo 4 stars!
Whoah! Looks heaps awesome!!!
Still doesn't chunk it but. Dropped it into the high 30's/low 40's with 6XAA and 16X Performance AF....This kicks my Ti4600 that I sold a few days ago.
I remember reading somewhere that you can change the INI settings for the video to ULTRA HIGH DETAIL.
I'll have to do a search and get back to ya.
Rob
I think that -16 LOD is "ULTRA HIGH DETAIL".
I just chucked it on to 16X QUALITY AF and it went into the low 30 FPS!!!
It was set to -0.8 I think by default for "HIGHEST DETAIL" so this is a big jump.
I wish this card would O/C a bit more because it looks so damned nice but you kinda need high FPS in a game like that.
