Wow...new update to the demo...wonder what they changed in it...

BTW...if you d/l the demo, and later get the retail game, before you delete the demo off your HDD, save the UT2003.exe file from the system folder. Just drag and drop or copy/paste it to your desktop.

After you install the retail game, and upgrade it with the latest patch (you will want to do this...), take that .exe file from the demo, and replace the retail UT2003.exe file with it.

Volia! Instant NO-CD. ;) The demo .exe file doesn't look for a CD-ROM, as it's not installed from one. The game will work as intended, with zero problems or side-effects. I've been doing this since the v2136 patch came out (the game is now up to v2199). Works every time.

NOTE...anytime you install a new patch, you'll have to repeat this process with the .exe files, so save a copy for this purpose.

Easiest, and safest NO-CD hack there is...using Epic's own files.

Cheers!

B.

arent other no-cd cracks legal if you own the game?

also with the original UT if you installed the patch then it had no-cd built in

It's kinda a grey area. If anything, the demo exe is less seedy, at any rate.

Keep in mind that the demo doesn't have all the detail settings available that the full game does.

Texture and Character details in the retail can go up to "Highest", while the demo only goes up to "Normal".
