As some of you might know Hitachi is now handling IBM's hard drive business and RMA's. I sent in a defective 40Gb drive from work a few weeks ago and today we got a brand new Hitachi Deskstar 40Gb drive that was manufactured this month.
Getting the RMA number was easy, all I had to do was go to the website and put in the serial #'s and my info and the number was auto-generated.
So have no fear if your IBM drive went out, Hitachi will take care of the warranty. Although it did take a few weeks to get the new drive the bottom line is that it came.
