I'm trying to decide between the following:

Kingston 512MB PC2700

or

Crucial 512MB PC2700

This will be going into an Epox 8K9A3+ with an xp1700 (Tbred B). I'm mostly concerned with stability at 166MHz, but doesn't need to be the most aggressive timings.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

ive been running my pc2700 crucial 512mbstick at 166-167 fsb the last day and its been fine.

i cant put the timings less than 2.5 6 3 2 without getting unstable though. still messing with the settings though to try each combination with voltages and all timings.

will it make that much of a difference if i could go lower timings with my memory?

I can run my HyperX PC3000 at 185 fsb at cas 2, 3-2-2-1T with no problem.

The HyperX is tested at 370 at those settings, and it works (for me anyway).

Thanks for bringing the HyperX PC3000 to my attention, jconforti.

I picked up a 512MB stick for $90 which is only $10 more than I was going to pay for the Crucial PC2700 and from the looks of it, is a MUCH better value.

I'll give an update in a few days when I have everything up and running.

I am glad I could help. Thats what the forum is all about! :D

Good luck, and get back to me, would like to know how it all works out for you.

John
