Ok, I am looking for some decent overclocking RAM... for a good price. I know, I hate where people want good things at good prices, but I was looking at the 512 MB Crucial PC2700. Will that be sufficient enough to overclock my system without it being an issue?

(Knowing Crucial's reputation)Yes, it should, though I haven't seen any reviews on the new Crucial 2700, :(. GoogleGear has the 512MB sticks of 2700 Corsair XMS for 106 last time I checked, :)

i'm getting that same module this weekend, can't test it yet, though...sorry.

My problem with hardcore cooling is well 2 things. 1) they sell OCZ 2) they don't tell you what the insane stuff is. I'd rather know what I'm buying than get a copper heatspreader.

I've been researching memory price/performance for about 2 weeks now and I'm leaning toward Kingston HyperX 3000. It's CL2 and although not full PC3200, 3000 is better than 2700. $98 at Googlegear. It seems to be well reviewed -- although nobody has been very excited about it.

Another reason in my choice is that the MSI site recommends Kingston which I almost guarantee you is paid advertising, but not 100% meaningless.

the kingston hyperx 3000 has some good reviews. i only need to oc my ram to about 175mhz so i should be more than fine.

and it is 50 bucks less for 512mb kingston hperxpc3000 over corsair xms 3200 512mb and money is an issue for me.

end of this week ill post my OC results. i am having bad luck getting any significant oc out of this pc 2700 crucial 512mb stick.

Crucial may be good stuff but here's what I've been able to find and get running.

Epox 8rda+, tbred 2100 at 183X13 for 2379
DDR ram from OC system, 512mb $73 +$12 cas2 upgrade=$85 shipped.. Timings 4,2,2 cas2 at 2.63 volts
I have also run the system at 200fsb 4,2,2 cas 2 at 2.77V ddr
The ram is PC3200 with the Cas2 upgrade
I have 2 systems like this running just fine on this ram.
I have a third system was samsung PC2700 that doesn't go past 170 cas 2 4,2,2 at any voltage
Good Luck
