Hello.

Another silly question... I just installed a GE4 mx440 ( PCI) in place of a GE 2,computer is now crawling. I tried running 3D MArk and was getting 3-7 fps on the first test and 1-2 fps on the second. I have wiped all my previous drivers and did a fresh install ( best as i can tell).

The one thing that did strike me as odd was I popped my GE 4 in the computer with the same setup/ driver that was running my GE 2 and it was running great, after i tried to install it properly was when all the trouble started. I am running Wix xp, 1Ghz Celeron, 512 SDRAM, Gigabyte 6vmm mobo and newest drivers from NvIDIA

Im stumped

Thanks for the help

Chris

PCI??? Dont you have AGP, hmmm
If your Gf2 is AGP then that makes sense, else just check back with gf2 see if the speed gone back. Update driver may help, plz give us model of the card.

He said inplace. ;)
I know this sounds stupid but try checking if hardware acceleration is set to none or low, just incase, y'know. :)
Else, I'd revert back to the 3x.xx drivers, as the MX series dont benefit much(though not at all) from the 4x.xx drivers anyway.

Double check the quality settings in the driver applets to make sure that AA isn't set to something like maximum, etc.

Look in your bios for possible performance enhancing options, and enable them (although most have to do with agp, unfortunately.) check to make sure that 'assign irq to vga' is enabled, if you have that option.

Um... Via control panel, uninstall anything that says nvidia, download the latest detonator reference drivers, install those per the instructions.

Wierd.

Well i figured out what I had done after about 4 hours.... I pulled the plug for my cpu fan out while installing the video card, I think it was overheating. Literally 2 min after plugging it back in I was up and running.

My apologies, it was something I should have thought to look at.
