I had been having a problem with my old Epox MB (Same model) having reboots, and not booting at all sometimes... seems there was a scratched trace around the CPU socket.
Got a replacement, wouldnt boot.
Wouldnt even give me an error code.
Removed RAM and it gave me a RAM init error (duh)
put the ram back in (tried all 3 slots) still gave the ram error.
Replaced RAM with different stick, went to start machine, and SNAP a chip was glowing BRIGHT orange. I only saw this because I had my face stuck in the side of the machine to insure CPU fan powered up etc...
The "chip" the burnt (cant think of the name.. you know, square small black thing with 3 legs) is located directly above the screw hole just to the left of the RAM Dimms...
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this does (what it controls)... it might help me figure out whats up with my system.
BTW, MB turned a bit black and stunk up the room...
Not a happy camper, as it was brand new MB...
Oh well, yet another EPoX RMA..
