Hello All. After following the board I went with the following setup:
p4g8x
2.4b sl6ef malay q249a335 using stock fan heatsink with as3
1x512 pc3500 from hardcorecooling.com (wish i had gotten 2)ddr
ti4400
fortran 350w
cool case! :)
wd80g

Oc'd @ 18x175fsb volts 1.625
mem 2-3-3-6

So I was pretty happy at hitting that with little voltage adjustment. I ran memtest for an hour. All good. So i ran sandra and pcmark and 3dmark. I was stupified at the results.
I don't understand what the hell is going on with these marks. Anyone have any deas? The memory score I am thinking is because I only have the 1 stick? But the rest, just doesn't make sense.
Sandra:
Dhrystone 8267
Whetstone 1820/4164
integer 12242
floatingpoint 15549
cachemem 34650
mem 2574 2574
PCmark:
cpu 7761
mem 6728
hdd 1065
3dmark 2001
10363

God it just burns me to have to write those numbers down.
:(

wow that is pretty low I have my 2.4b at stock and my GF4 4200 OCed a little and I'm close to 13,000 on 3dmark 2001se.
and my mem test is about the same as yours.
maybe it is because you have 1 stick of ram.. could you get one more and see if that helps? or maybe ask some one with a P4G8x to run tests without Dual DDR and see what they get..

The memory not being dual channel is hurting you. I'm running my P4G8X @ 160 fsb with a C1 2a. I have two sticks of Samsung PC3200 256MB ran dual channel and my mem score is decent. I just bought a Pentium 4 Mobile 1.5 so hopefully I'll hit 200 fsb.
:D I should have my new cpu Friday or Saturday and I'll post the results.

Your Sandra scores are pretty much in line for what you are using.

This is a dual channel motherboard and using 1 stick of ram on it has no value whatsoever. Sell the stick of 512 and get two 256 and your bandwidth will close to double. Also, the board defaults to mem timings of 2.5-3-3-7 at any fsb over about 140 regardless of what you set it to in the BIOS. Use wpcredit/wpcrset to correct this. Settings and Program Here

Memory timings and bandwidth will effect your overall system performance and all of the marks from Sandra, PCmark and 3Dmark.

Check my sig for a couple of links and system setup.

Also CPU Sandra and Memory Bandwidth and Multi-Media benches for your comparison.

You definitely need another stick of ram - you're running in single channel mode right now.

Ok I ordered nother 512 3500 from hardcorecooling.com. The only thing I am worried about therre is that they have differnet memory now, or different chips on them. Sooo hopefully it will run together at 175 fsb. I can't believe with all the reading I did here, I missed the part about the ddr.. Doh!!

Thx All,
XcAm

Hello guys, I'm new around here.

So, let me provide a little information about 2.4B@P4G8X.
My limit is 156 MHz FSB here, and I do achieve ~ 3800 MB/s (Sandra 2003) yet.

Maybe this screenshot could be from interest for you:
It shows my computer with dual channel activities at 166 MHz with 2,5-3-3-7 timings, those bad timings are the result of the original BIOS which drops them above 140 MHz.
Ok, here we go:

PS: Anyone ever seen more than 190 MHz on P4G8X?

Yeap.....I've seen.......mine.......212MHz fsb ........ :D

Heck... is that allover stable there?
Oh dear ... *nut on head*.

I think I should try some FSB800-CPUs later then. :)

Hey Bad
you can change those memory timings with wpcredit/wpcrset or with the mod xbios.
I personally prefer the wpcrset link

And yes many have the P4V8X running at 190+

It used to work at 205MHz fsb for every day use 24/7 running SETI.......Now I'm with a Pentium4 3.06GHz.....

Try to flash the Modded bios 1004twk.013 if you wouldn't like to involve yourshelf with WPCREDID to avoid the ASUS Cas 2,5-3-3-7 above 140MHz fsb..... ;)

I personally have the 1004.014 beta bios(with the new RAID SATA bios with faster performance on SATA RAID) AND the WPCREDID and WPCRSET.....

Thanks guys,
I'm already using 1004twk.013 BIOS for now ~ 1 week.
Been using wpcredit before when I used to tweak my old i845E-Board. :)

Hipro - good to hear that it is capable of stable 200 MHz & even more. Gives me a realistic opportunity on FSB800-CPUs. Did you mod it at all?

Yes of caurce and it is FULL Modded......Heatsinks EVERYWHERE , Vmem , Vchip , Vagp , extra electrolytic capasitors , e.t.c...... ;)

A friend of mine with an Unmodded one ,used to work with it at 200MHz 24/7 ......

i'm buying a 120gb barracudaV soon, so i will need that etxra performance with the new bios. my question is that the new bios still suffers under ram setting loss above fsb140?

hipro5, how did you get your sandra to report the chipset controller under the model info?? your the only one in the thread that actually has the E7205 host controller under the chipset model in sandra. thanks.;)

It's the latest version of S-Sandra 2003 jd.....V. 2003.1.9.31...... ;)

Hmm, why cant i go any longer than this??.im using the P4G8X del+x86BIOS+The P42.4(SL6EF)+2x256 TWIN/WIN 3200/400mhz mem.Ive tried all kinds of memory settings+Volts to the cpu,mem etc.What do u think of i use a V-dimm modd??

gabbax
Try using CPU-Z
It will report vcore and also has mem timings, etc.

hipro5
Si Sandra version 2003.1.9.30 also shows the chipset.
I think it was the first version to add the E7205
