my previous 3d gaming experience consists of heretic 2 on the old machine and doom on a 486... the other day i played morrowind at 1600x1200 with all the options i could find turned on... WOW!

ROFL, you should've stuck with Heretic and Doom. They're cheaper. :)

Nice to see you got some good stuff, and you're using it to its full potential.

Yeah, I had a 333Mhz computer until my sophomore year in college. Now I'm a senior and I've got what's in my sig :D. I'm a happy boy. Now if only I can get a good score on the MCAT rather than 3DMark!

Wait a minute, are you really planning on overclocking your cdrom, and burner as it says in your sig?!!!
How? Because it won't make them read or write any faster.
So you're just going to increase the fsb (and thus pci bus) right?

no... your give it the new firmware from the 52x24x52 or w/e it is and it re-writes/writes/reads faster :)

hahah congrats on your promotion one thing though once you get addicted to "upgrading" there is no turning back so beware :D

I have my HP 8200i burner O/Ced. Heh. 4/4/32 stock, 8/4/32 with the 9300i firmware.

Is this Firmware from the manufacturers' web sites? I haven't heard of this before :( Wonder if my LG cdrw can do it...

Some are small improvements (face, signpost graphics) but others are full game changes. There is a sound and weather one that is a must have... makes the weather sound so real (also adds more nature sounds... crickets, flies etc all according to where you are and time of day!).

Also one util that allows you to increase your viewing range twice as much as the original max (if you PC can take it :) ).
