okay heres the setup... two pc's connected ethernet to hub which is connected to the modem...internet on one pc works flawlessly. internet on the other pc is retarded. it will connect on msn messegner but internet explorer yahoo and aim won't connect to anything. any ideas. i've run the network setup wizard over and over but it shows now problems setting it up. it rolls right through like nothing is wrong. im supposing it might be that internet explorer just doesn't know how to fin the internet on the computer. and maybe aim and yahoo have the same problem. but like i said the msn messenger works.. any ideas will be appreciated
For it to work that way you would need two static IP's from your provider. otherwise you need to put a router in place of the hub or connect the modem to one computer and use ICS (internet connection sharing) to give the other computer access. Good Luck:D

Remember that if you are going to setup one PC as a gateway (comp connected straight to modem) and the other is just one that goes off of the other... you need a CORSSOVER lan cable - where the ends are litterally flipped....
2 types of LAn -Line exist in the world - Straight and Crossover..
Good luck man.
It's one helluva lot easier when doing this type of stuff thru XP - Gett it.. i recommend it.
