i just got done watching a movie on my comp, and i decided when it was over to see how far i could push my fsb, to see the limit with my memory...and i think i made a booboo

i upped the settings to 163x11.5, and when it booted all i got was a blank screen and series of long beeps from my mobo. when i opened up the case, i reset the CMOS and tried to reboot again. Everything seemed to go fine, but usually my mobo beeps once very quickly just befor my monitor pops up, and this time no beep and no response for a while. so i went back in and reset the CMOS again, and still no response...i did this three more times and still nothing.

the only type of response that i get is the hdd activity light staying lit, and the optical drive's led's blinking a few times.

any suggestions out there, i need as much help as i can get. thanks, Altec:eek:  :(

make sure you unplug it from the wall when you reset the cmos. Give that a try and make sure you leave it for a minute then switch it back. see if that works then we can go from there.

kendan you are my savior...why is it that you have to do that?

because the computer still gets power when it is turned off. You have to unplug it to clear the cmos.:D

Don't forget to take out the battery while you do all this.

Nope you do not need to take the battery out. But if it doesn't work you can try to take the battery out and unplug it for a couple of hours.

Sometimes it will but sometimes it wont. It is best to just unplug it anyways:D

I find that unplugging it and pressing the power button does the same trick. Gets all the power out of the capacitors. That's what keeps your CMOS from clearing.

Glad to see you're back up and running. Keep up the O/Cing!
