Subject: am i doing it alright? (palomino overclocking)

I've got an AMD athlon xp 2000 + (palomino), and an Asus a7v8x mobo.
I'm currently using it at 1812 MHZ. the cpu frequency multiplier is 12.5, and i've upped the cpu external frequency (mhZ) to 145/36.
In WCPUID, it says that the system clock is 145mhz, and that the system bus is at 290 mhz ddr. The vcore is set to auto in the bios, and asusprob (a monitoring utility) shows it's at 1.808 v.
I haven't touched the cpu, i've got a thermaltake volcano 9 and cpu temp never rises over 45 degrees (~115 F).

Is it alright what i'm doing? i don;t really want to take it any higher, i don't want to stress any parts.I have got a samsung 512 pc 3200 (400mhz) ddr. Should i put it to auto frequency or should i let my cpu external frequency setting (145/36) overclock it?

thanks for your help!!, i'm quite new at overclocking.

Hi, welcome to the forum !

I am no expert, but that's what i would do :

put your memory to auto frequency (it will adjust to your CPU speed) and try to lower its settings in the bios (i dunno if you have the option : optimal, aggressive or user-defined).

Then work on your CPU : with your fast ram, you can push your
CPU ext. frequency higner without stressing any part. You may have to increase a little the voltage to keep your system stable (+0.025 or +0.050 volts). you don't risk much, as long as you watch your temp.

Good luck :)
