Is XP home or XP pro better?

There was a discussion about this in another forum...

Are the additional features/control you have with XP pro all that makes it different from XP home?

Are all the core operating system files the same in both versions?

from what i have read, which isn't much, xp pro has more functions with networking...so home is really for HOME.

As far as I am aware xp home does not support more than one cpu.

*edit*

The post above was not there when I wrote mine lol

XP Pro is obviously better. Because XP Pro = XP Home + other stuff, therefore XP Pro > XP Home because surely XP Home + other stuff > XP Home.

xp pro is just as easy to use as home... but it has more stuff behind the scenes.

I got xp pro b/c i have a dual processor system. I also have a network, and have used some of the advanced networking options that xp pro offers.

I think for the average user even the average business user home is fine. The only thing I have run into yet that I might actually use is domain authentication. Other than that I love both of them.

For non tech people XP home is fine (kind of like AOL) But if you are involved in more than surfing the net and running basic apps, them Pro is definitely better.

I bought a copy of Home because I'd heard how stable it was and since I can't go a day without tweaking or installing/uninstalling several programs I thought it would work. WRONG. I crashed it 5 times the first day I had it running.

Went out and bought Pro and the only way I've been able to crash it is hardware (OCing too far so MOBO locks up during boot) or with conflicting NVidia video card drivers (but that another topic entirely:D )

Also bought a book called Windows XP inside out and every other page has something like "but this feature is only found in the pro version" or "this feature disabled in the home version"

There is a world of difference between the two if you are the least bit computer literate. I would definitely advise sticking with XP Pro.
