No I am not talking about the hyperthreaded P4 3.06ghz on a granite bay motherboard with 2 512mb sticks of PC-3500 cas 2 ram from corsair and a Raedon 9800 Pro.
I am talking about the stuff that controls how well you do. The stuff that you control that player with.
So what do you think is the best gaming keyboard, mouse, and mousepad?
To me, keyboards dont matter, however the mouse and mousing surface can greatly change the way that I play. I am thinking about buying one of those fancy mouse pads and I will also probably be buying a new mouse soon and I am mainly seeing what all of you use.

i use office keyboard. *drool* if you don't already have one, buy one...............they have them for 15$ plus shipping at amazon right now....(i paid 40$ for mine, and it was worth every penny)
as far as mouses go, don't use wireless. wireless screws your sniping game to h*** ......i use Intelli-Mouse Explorer just because i'm obsessive about speed and responsiveness.
-anyway, at the very least buy the office keyboard, the keys are much more solid than anything i have ever touched

i use a logitec wireless optical mouse (not one of the MX series) and a Antec black keyboard. my mouse pad is huge, 1 1/2 foot x 2 foot :D
nostromo N50 speedpad but i haven't used it in a while. i haven't played a game lately that was worth setting up my N50.
Saitek X36/35 flight controller. one of the best HOTAS controllers on the market. i paid $150 for it a couple years ago, now you can get the same thing for $80.
Microsoft Sidewinder Precision steering wheel. not force feedback, to get a decent FF wheel when i bought this one you would pay at least $150. soon i plan to get a ACT Labs Force RS w/clutch & shifter. i've been looking at a few used ones but most people want close to retail prices for them (around $240).
my newest toy is my playstation/N64 controller USB converter. mostly used for racing games, sometimes i just don't feel like messing with setting up my wheel.
edit: i never had a problem with my wireless mouse. it's more precise then most mice i've used and i've used a LOT of mice :D my only complaint is i go through a pair of AA batteries every 8-9 days.

I use a Logitech cordless i-touch, logitech MX500 with a roadrunner mouse pad, sidewinder game pad, and a sidewinder P2 joy stick.

wireless = icky
For keyboard I use a logitech CORDED elite keyboard...it's great. The feedback is very good....and I swear that it improved my typing speed, lol.
The mouse I use is a Logitech Optical Blue......it was $30 when I got it. It's great, except it flips out when you move it too fast. I'm planning to get the MX500 soon......
And I also use the Nostromo n50. It's EXCELLENT....the problem is you have to configure it for a game.....it takes a few minutes and is simple to do.....but, it's only useful for games you play a lot. Don't try to configure it for a game that you've never played before....heh.

I have that keyboard (It's very nice). For a mouse, I just bought the Logitech MouseMan Dual Optical. Both corded. My mousepad is a small generic cloth-top one. I'm looking to order the massive one that Fatal1ty uses. I use a really low sensitivity and I'm tired of lifting my mouse to turn fast.

I use my MX700 and my old Dell keyboard that I had with my Dell. If I was to get and use a controller I would probably get an xbox controller and convert it/use an adapter.

whatever dude. i've used both, and they are on par. both kick the crap out of wireless mice. (don't any of you tell me they are good for games because thats BS.....I bought logitech's mx700 and MS wireless explorer, both are good for everyday activities and the occassional fps, however when you snipe in games they are not responsive or accurate enough for my taste. i've tried very hard to use my 70$ in fps games and it doesnt work. end of story. don't get me wrong, i love my wireless mouse. worth every penny. just plan on having 2 mice, one for games, one for everything else. which is perfectly fine with so many usb ports.
anyway, back on topic.....why hasnt anyone else talked about the office keyboard? you still wont find a review site that likes any wired keyboard more than MS office......its simply the best i have ever used. 15$ from amazon isn't bad either.

i only care about my keyboard when typing and thats why i use an old AT keyboard with the clicky keys :)....anywho...my mouse is the 1 cent mouse from newegg....i had their 6$ optical mouse but it got confused at any decent 180 flip speed....and my parents wont let me spend 20$ to get even a low end logitech or microsoft optical which is what i want. my mousepad is a department os state pad that one of my moms friends gave me who used to be an intern for madeline albright.
i use this
$7 some type of keyboard
Mx500
n a $.30 mousepad, i want a larger surface 1 though
i think the Func Pad n Steel Pad r the best ones

I recently got the ratpadzGS, it quite good to be honest! Its not to slippery like the original before it and is rougher so you have greater control.

ick penguin......:D
i've looked at that tacticalboard, and I realized that my nostromo n50 is much better. That thing may as well be a second keyboard.
The beauty of the n50 is that it's small and simple, yet comfortable. And anyhow, I don't trust gel pads that I can't replace. I'm tough on the pad I have for my keyboard.....the last one all the felt had ripped out of the edges (were only held on by super glue, but still)...I can't imagine what I'd do if it were permenantly attached to my keyboard.

Those of you who've never used a premium mousepad, ya'll are missing out. I have the fUNC 1030 that I paid TWENTY DOLLARS for and its worth every penny. If you are using optical, you gotta try it. I have a glass desk and a mousepad was a necessity and after reading up on the premium pads out there, i shelled out my $23.50 for the fUNC 1030.
Trust me, this "pad" is dope dope dope.

Honestly, I think the mx500's shapes are crap. When I get the money, i am gonna get a dual optical logtiech mouseman. MUCH better shape with goof performance! For right now, I am using your standard microsoft optical with 2 buttons w/ a scroll wheel that is also a button. I modded a blue LED in though, I think I messed something up though. FO rit to work someti, mes, I have to slam it into my desk kinda hard. I could careless, it happens rarely and is fixed for a long time after a good wacking!

The Frag let me know how you really feel about the mx500. I'll tell you after playing for hours I prefer this MX over anything I have ever played with. It fits my hand perfectly. Sorry you didn't find the same. I wouldn't trade it for anything currently on the market.:D I have an extra 5 dollar 4d scroll mouse that might fit your hand. It's small. I have big hands I guess.

I like the A4Tech mini infrared mouse with dual scroll. Dual scroll helps a lot. One for weapon change and the other for zoom. Or one for zoom and other for change in shot style. You get the idea. You can pick this up cheap too.
Also, I like the mini because I never have to fight to keep the mouse on the pad. Always there b/c its not so big and bulky it will go over the edges.

LMAO I use that same mouse pad. My old Max Payne.
I use my Compaq keyboard and a microsoft Intellimouse explorer 3 optical mouse. its the good black and silver one. costs me like $50 bucks when it first came out
And I have a Wingman rumble pad. For games I might need a game pad for.
I use a cheapo £4 keyboard i got from a Computer Fair, and a logitech dual optical mouse i love it. I never used to use a mousepad like some of you but then i realised my mouse had been waring a patch on my desk so i got one:D
Dvortyboard 'natural' - www.dvortyboards.com - best keyboard purchase I ever made.
Razer Boomslang 2000 - www.razerzone.com - I've had this mouse for years and it still works great. Planning to upgrade to the 2500 when it comes out. Driver support has being 'meh'-ie but the win2k drivers worked fine.
RatPadz - www.hardocp.com - just a most excellent compliment to the razer.
Other accessories: Nostromo, Strategic Commander, MS ForceFeed Back 2

1 doller everglides? Share the wealth! Or the secret of where you got them....
I'm using the MS Wheel mouse optical (the plain one), but I told my cousin to buy an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 so I could see if it was worth buying :P. He did, and I tried it out. It was an excellent mouse. It fit my hand very nicely and it was very accurate. I tried it out in CS, and while I usually have to warm up before I can play well, with this mouse it just felt like it was so much easier to control. It simply went exactly where I wanted it to without any effort.

The deal was in Cyber Deals a while ago. Everglide was selling 7 different mousepads for $1 a piece to clear out inventory. I bought 1 of each :D

Penguin4x4
03-27-03, 03:34 PM
They are all about the same, OC Noob. If you can calibrate it accurately and practice aiming with it enough you should have a pretty good setup,:)
Well, i play FPS games competitively and i can say a mousepad can make a BIG difference. I have tried almost all of them... What i use though is Ratpadz GS but i'm still to try the Compad Speedpad which is the only other hard pad big enough for me.
I have all the major non-cordless mice MX500, MX300, 3.0a, Blue and i can say that the tech is great in all of them and there is reall no noticeable difference in performance. I am using the MX500(with weight removed) cause i like the shape and feel the best. The thing with the logitech mice is the drivers are complete ****. I have tried the last 3 mousewares driver only installs and full installs and countless fixes but you always end up with probs, i ALWAYS ended up with negative acceleration and sometimes other probs(i don't even use accel btw). I use windows drivers which means no speacial commands like maxamize or keybindings to mouise buttons, oh well.
Any of the new mice are great so just get what feels best(although a mice might feel like **** for 2 days until youi get used to it then you may love the feel). Just beware if you get a logtech and be prepared to use win drivers.

Ghetto, barely name brand, cheap FUGITSU keyboard...i believe it cost $15CAD...i can only press 3 keys at a time. Pretty annoying when you're flying a plane in BF'42 and press 'F' and nothing happens, then you get shot down by a sherman.
I have a cheap'o' optical logitech mouse, only says logitech on the bottom, and it says Mouse on the top, with the 'O' shaped like a mouse...cost me $15CAD...its basically no-name made by a name brand company

have the n50, Itellimouse3 and the logitech dual optical. Out of the three the Logitech is the best. The M$ intelli mouse is a wrist killer for me anyway.. I've been playing fps for about 4 years now almost daily so there isn't to much left of my fleshy aimbot. I can use the logitech with more ease.. seems to be easier on the wrist. As for keyboard I use a microsoft split 15 $ one. Generally rip the left windows key off all my keyboards just incase of "oopsies" when I'm getting shot at. I hate being in a fight and having the desktop popup.. HL really hates going to desktop any how... kills the sound.
[sv_toggle conscience 0] ESDF is the way.. WASD is the devil.. ESDF is the way.. your mind will not remember these lines.. your getting tired... the next time you play a fps you will remember.... ESDF is the way... you will give slacker 150$ for this advice with paypal.. because he has helped you do the impossible.. switch to ESDF.. from WASD.... [/sv_toggle conscience 1]

Wow I find it very hard to believe only one person said the boomslang.....It took me about two days to get used to it but It's awesome. It's so sturdy, when you stop moving it stops, it's responsive as hell (been banned in some gaming tournaments what other mouse can say that?!?!).
Also 3M precise mousing surface, a must for any ball mouse (atleast for me). (Probably same thing as a ratzpad, i've never seen a ratzpad in person.

Logitech Opitcal Wheel Mouse, on an blue raindrop allsop mouspad. Logitech Cordless Itouch keyboard. (Not the best setup, but it's mine).
A non-natural keyboard is probably best for gaming, easier to find keys with. IMO, wired keyboard/mouse is better. Especially at LANs.. get 2 or 3 wireless keyboards or mice together, and you start getting interference..
As for wireless precision, in the past it really blew. Accuracty with a wireless mouse just sucked (esp. if it was a ball mouse). Lately I've seen some great reviews of the Logitech MX500 though, so that is starting to change my opinnion.
