Okie dokie. I've got an Asus A7N8X w/ a 1700 tbredb. Samsung pc2700 too. First got this and started oc-ing a while back. Well all went well for a few days as I increased the OC. I was set at 10.5 * 190. Memmory voltage was up a notch and my agp speed was set at 66mhz.

Well I let it burn in overnight with sandra and I get up and my pc was off. I was like uh oh. Turned the comp on and my WD 80gb se was making a clicking noise. It was screwed up. :(

So, I guess my memory could not handle that speed and corrupted my hdd?? What do you think? Someone told me I should test with memtest86 as my fsb increases?? I was going to try, but I don't have a floppy drive. Can I burn that test to cd and use it then? How do I do that?

I have an all new WD and don't want this to happen again, but I would like to get my cpu up to 2ghz.

Thoughts, insites, encouragement anyone?

I dont use a floopy for memtest are you suspose to? I just installed it and run it whenever I'am testing mem.

Hd getting corrupted I think that is a possibility.

Is memtest a prog you use on bootup? Or just in the OS??

If you mean memtest86 I thought you had to run it from a floppy to bypass the os. Anyway I like it that way since I can test my memory first without worrying it screwing up my hd. Once it looks stable then I'll boot into windows and run prime95 torture test.
