anyone tried this? It's not supposed to really have any great changes, just a few fixes, with MSN messenger mainly...
still, anyone tried this and got different 3dmark score/smoother gaming/any other changes?

don't know really, 'cause msn messenger was the first thing I deleted when I installed XP... but the release should (got this from rage3d):

-resolves an issue with DirectX 9.0 where some multiplayer games or MSN Messenger may not work correctly.
-resolved number of minor bugs

I'm still mad I got 500 on 3DMark2001 !! Of course, I have onboard graphics so I don't know what I was expecting... :(

the only difference I noticed was a little 'a' on the end of '9.0'

Please note that there are 2 DirectX 9.0a versions ! The initial release had bugs and was pulled from the Microsoft site , which then reposted a fixed version under the same name .

So it is important to mention which one you have , if you aren't sure d'load it again to be certain you have the new one . (Because I unfortunately can't remember what date the newer one was put online . )

I had 1 program that would not work with dx9, but now works with dx9a (it worked with dx8). Program is viva nonno (an emulator).

Socket eh?

Half-life wouldn't work for me under directX till I updated.
