I guess no one has read the MaximumPC review on the FX comparing it to the 9800 from ATI. If you would, you wouldn't get the FX. The AtI 9800 is faster, doesn't take up a pci slot and it doesn't sound like a mini vacuum.

Yeah, most of us have read threads with those reviews and the majority of this community feels the 9700 pro is better then the FX ultra and the 9800 pro is just that much better then the 9700 pro.

Yeah, we all know that.
That's why you won't see any of us buying one. :D
I'm waiting to see if ATI's 256MB R350 has some higher clockspeeds or whatever.....I'd like to get one and do some heatsink mods to it. That would be one killer video card! :D

Honestly, who is going to buy one of these and actually use it? I know some people around here bought one then sent it back, but the 9800 is like a month away...

5 Days Disco dude errr Stu :) 5 days and you can walk into your local CompUSA or Best Buy and get one :D The 9800 PRO that is ;)
OMG hahaha Price dropping already.
Down to $410.oo
It should be a lot cheaper the $410...makes u wonder what the retail card would cost if the OEMS are that much!

I hope Nvidia can keep up with ATI. This could be the beginning of another 3DFX senario. And I don't favor one over the other, I use both their products.

Well we won't discuss nvidia "keeping up" with ATI.
I still don't understand how in a hardware forum you can't debate what's better ati or nvidia.
But anyway I'd probably buy the fx if it was around $50.

Because it's a friendly debate for about 10 minutes. After than it's a flamefest
I wasn't trying for a versus comment, but I guess it could be.

True but it is a hardware forum and you need an ati vs. nvidia fight every once and a while. ;)

there have been so many posts in the past asking if someone should get a 8500...or a ti500....it starts out by saying the facts, then after 15 or so posts...its all over. debates go in the debate section anyway...this is a no-flaming forum, which is what it ends up being with these threads...everyone who loves one company will defend it till death...which doesnt add up to a G-rated environment.
i would like to have an FX, but i dont have $430 sitting around. i need a car.

on sale now for $399 :(
was just watching Tech TV who was saying Nvidia teamed up with IBM to produce their GeForce family cards, because Taiwan Semiconductor (or whatever the company is) that's producing their current cards had production problems with the FX line..
Maybe that could be why the prices are a little high.
You can't really expect the future price of Nvidia cards to be cheaper though especially if they teamed up with IBM....
Hmmm...someone with video card knowledge open up a manufacturing plant with me in Iraq in 6 months..:D
Betcha we get lots of tax breaks..and hire 50 armed guards to protect it...hehe...

hey sam
we don't need to debate about which is better: ati or nvidia. because if you look at ati's later cards they are better than nvidia and thats a fact so the debate is over, ati won.
